BYD has reduced prices on select variants of its Qin L EV sedan and introduced a new model equipped with advanced body control technology as competition intensifies in China’s electric vehicle market.

The company said at the Chengdu auto show that two existing Qin L EV variants will each be discounted by RMB 10,000 ($1,400) until September 30, lowering their starting prices to RMB 109,800 and RMB 119,800. The move comes alongside the launch of a new version of the sedan fitted with BYD’s DiSus-C body control system, priced at RMB 139,800 before applying the same temporary discount.

The Qin L EV, launched in March, is positioned against Tesla’s Model 3 with similar dimensions but a lower entry price to target younger consumers. The sedan offers three variants, all featuring single-motor rear-wheel drive and fast-charging capability. Depending on configuration, the vehicle is fitted with either a 46.08-kWh or 56.64-kWh battery pack, delivering a driving range of 470 km to 545 km under CLTC standards.

BYD’s DiSus-C system, first unveiled in 2023, is designed to improve ride comfort on uneven roads while enhancing vehicle stability during cornering or emergency maneuvers. The latest Qin L EV also integrates BYD’s “God’s Eye C” smart driving system, offering functions such as highway Navigate on Autopilot, automated parking, and remote parking.
