BYD has introduced two new long-range variants of its Song Pro DM-i hybrid sport utility vehicle in China, while discontinuing one existing version, as the automaker continues to refine its product lineup amid intensifying competition in the new energy vehicle market.

The Chinese manufacturer rolled out the two new variants at an event on Saturday, offering limited-time subsidised starting prices of 119,800 yuan ($17,170) and 127,800 yuan. Their official guide prices are listed at 122,800 yuan and 130,800 yuan, respectively.

Both new versions feature a CLTC-rated electric-only range of 220 kilometres, exceeding the 133-kilometre range offered by the remaining two variants in the Song Pro DM-i lineup. Following their introduction, BYD has removed the previously highest-priced version from sale.

The 2026 Song Pro DM-i was originally launched on October 23, 2025, with three variants, all offering a 133-kilometre CLTC battery range. At launch, official starting prices ranged from 102,800 yuan to 125,800 yuan, with subsidised prices starting at 99,800 yuan. After the latest adjustment, two 133-kilometre variants remain available alongside the new long-range options.

The hybrid SUV measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712 mm. The 133-kilometre versions use BYD’s blade battery with a capacity of 18.3 kWh, while the 220-kilometre variants are equipped with a larger 26.6 kWh battery pack. BYD lists a combined driving range of up to 1,600 kilometres when the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank filled.

The update reflects BYD’s broader effort to enhance the competitiveness of its core models. In recent days, the company has also launched long-range hybrid variants with battery ranges of up to 210 kilometres for several sedans in its Qin and Seal series. BYD’s current SUV portfolio includes the Song Pro and Song L, both offered in DM-i hybrid and fully electric versions.
