German automaker BMW has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the iX2 eDrive20, alongside the facelifted 4-Series Coupe and Convertible.
Scheduled for sales commencement in March, the iX2 eDrive20 is positioned as an entry-level variant with a starting price of £50,710 ($64,280) in the UK, offering a cost-effective alternative to the iX2 xDrive30.

The iX2 eDrive20 is equipped with a single electric motor generating 204 hp, propelling the front wheels. Despite its non-performance designation, the electric SUV achieves a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). Sporting a 64.8 kWh battery pack, the eDrive20 exhibits an extended range of 297 miles (478 km), an 18-mile (29 km) improvement over the xDrive30 model.
Charging options for the iX2 eDrive20 include AC charging at 11 kW and 22 kW, as well as DC charging at up to 130 kW, providing 75 miles (120 km) of range within a 10-minute charge.
While comprehensive specifications and equipment details for the iX2 eDrive20 are yet to be announced, industry observers anticipate similarities with the iX1 eDrive20, featuring a 10.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment display.

Accompanying the iX2’s debut is the X2 xDrive20d, the second diesel model in the X2 range. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an integrated electric motor within a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the xDrive20d produces a combined 163 hp and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.
Starting March, BMW offers an expanded range of exterior paint finishes, including Frozen Black Metallic, across all versions of the X2 and iX2.
