Production of the BMW iX1 has started in Regensburg, Germany with the first dlivery to follow in the coming weeks. The BMW iX1 is an electric crossover revealed back in May and will be on sale in Europe and China. The BMW iX1 currently has only one variant available, the xDrive 30.

The BMW iX1 uses a 66.5 kWh battery pack, which gives it a range of up to 272 miles per charge (WLTP). The BMW iX1 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 5.7 seconds with a total output of 313 hp.

In terms of charging, the iX1 is capable of reaching speeds of up to 127 kW – not very impressive in today’s market.

The price of the iX1 starts at ā‚¬55,000 ($56,990) in Germany and BMW currently has no plans to offer it in North America. The decision is surprising given the unprecedented US and Canadian demand for electric crossovers.

The iX1 joins the i4 and i7 sedans and the iX3 and iX SUVs in BMW’s fully electric lineup. Another electric crossover, the iX2, is in the works and is expected to launch in 2024. Whether or not BMW has plans to launch the iX2 in the US remains to be seen.
