BMW has announced pricing and technical specifications for the BMW iX3 50 xDrive in the United States and Canada, ahead of the launch of the company’s first production vehicle based on its Neue Klasse electric vehicle platform.

The iX3 50 xDrive will start at $61,500 in the United States and 75,900 Canadian dollars in Canada, BMW said.

The electric SUV is scheduled to enter the U.S. market on Sept. 25, while the Canadian launch is planned for autumn 2026.

BMW has already begun deliveries of the iX3 in Europe, where the vehicle entered selected markets earlier this year. The automaker is currently producing the model at its Debrecen plant in Hungary, which will initially also supply North American markets.

Production for North America is later expected to shift to BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, although the facility is not expected to begin manufacturing operations until mid-2027.

According to BMW, the iX3 50 xDrive will offer an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 434 miles in the United States depending on wheel and tyre configuration.

The highest range estimate is achieved using optional 20-inch summer tyres, while the standard 20-inch all-season setup provides an estimated range of 383 miles. Versions equipped with 21-inch and 22-inch wheels are rated between 392 and 399 miles.

For Canada, BMW said the vehicle has received an NRCan-certified range of up to 698 kilometres. In Europe, the SUV carries a WLTP-rated range of up to 805 kilometres.

The iX3 is built on BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which includes updated electric motors, cylindrical battery cells with higher energy density and an 800-volt electrical architecture.

BMW said the new drivetrain reduces energy losses by 40% compared with the previous generation, while also cutting vehicle weight by 10% and lowering manufacturing costs by 20%.

The iX3 supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW and can add up to 185 miles of range in 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions, according to the company.

BMW added that charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 21 minutes at compatible 800-volt charging stations using the standard North American Charging Standard charging port.

The SUV supports AC charging at up to 15.4 kW as standard, with optional charging capability of up to 19.2 kW when paired with the BMW Wallbox Professional.

BMW has opened reservations for the iX3 through its online configurator in North America. Customers in the United States can reserve the vehicle with a $1,000 deposit, while Canadian customers are required to place a refundable 500 Canadian dollar reservation fee.
