Electrify Canada, a subsidiary of Electrify America, and BMW Group Canada have partnered to offer BMW i7 luxury sedan owners three years of complimentary charging across the Electrify Canada network. This agreement will enable i7 owners to access charging, charging history, locate stations, or check the status of chargers through the Electrify Canada mobile app.

Rob Barrosa, Vice President of Technology at Electrify Canada and Electrify America, expressed his excitement to continue their work with BMW and extend it to Canada to help even more customers feel confident in taking their EVs wherever they need to go. He believes that as more EVs like the BMW i7 come to market, fast-charging solutions from Electrify Canada and their ongoing work to expand charging access for customers will be critical to increasing EV adoption.

This marks the first time that BMW’s flagship 7 Series has received an all-electric powertrain and yields a range of up to 512 km, according to Natural Resources Canada. The i7 can reach its peak charging power of 195 kW by using Electrify Canada’s DC fast 350 kW chargers, which are the fastest speed commercially available today.

David George, President and CEO of BMW Group Canada, said that as leaders in the luxury segment, they aim to provide their flagship i7 customers with a premium charging experience. The charging agreement with Electrify Canada gives i7 owners a fast and convenient way to charge their vehicles when out-of-home and helps make a further case for going electric.

This partnership highlights the importance of building infrastructure and providing charging solutions for EV owners. As more automakers release electric models, partnerships like this will help in expanding charging infrastructure and increase confidence among potential EV buyers.
