Spotlight Automotive, a collaboration between BMW and Great Wall Motor (GWM), has unveiled the latest electric Mini Cooper in China, marking the debut of the fifth-generation model with a blend of classic design elements and modern enhancements. The new Mini Cooper, available in five distinct trims and priced between 189,800 and 266,800 yuan (approximately $26,100 to $36,700), offers consumers a range of options tailored to diverse preferences and needs.
Measuring 3858 mm in length, 1756 mm in width, and 1458 mm in height, with a wheelbase extended to 2526 mm, the new Mini Cooper retains its iconic three-door, four-seater layout. It boasts six vibrant body colors including Storm Gray, Polar Bear White, and Chili Red, complemented by blackened body pillars, exterior mirrors, and roof options.
The Mini Cooper lineup includes variants such as the Cooper E Big Player/Classic, Cooper SE Artist/Racer, and the limited edition Cooper SE 1/65. Each trim features distinctive characteristics, from 17-inch aluminum alloy rims on the Classic Edition to 18-inch variants on the Artist and Racer models. The Racing Edition stands out with a JCW kit, featuring a black body trim paired with a red roof and exterior mirrors adorned with the JCW logo.
Under the hood, the entry-level Mini Cooper E is equipped with a 135 kW (181 hp) electric motor and a 40.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 456 km and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the high-end Mini Cooper SE boasts a 160 kW (215 hp) motor, a 54.2 kWh battery, and achieves a similar CLTC range of 452 km with a faster acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.
Inside, the Mini Cooper features a 240 mm diameter central control screen powered by the Mini Operating System 9, supporting voice commands, navigation, and multimedia functions. Additional amenities across trims include ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and advanced driver assistance systems like parking aids and cruise control.
