UK charge point operator Believ has taken over more than 110 public electric vehicle chargers across 30 locations in Brighton & Hove, expanding its presence in the English coastal city. The infrastructure was previously operated by Blink Charging.
The transition includes standard-plus AC chargers rated between 7 and 22 kW, as well as rapid charging units with outputs of 50 kW or more. Believ plans to retain the existing AC equipment and associated cabling and infrastructure, while replacing rapid chargers to improve reliability and bring the network into line with current charging regulations.
The replacement equipment is expected to be installed by the end of November 2026.
Rapid Charging Infrastructure Set for Replacement
Believ said the takeover will combine the continued use of existing infrastructure with targeted upgrades at rapid charging locations.
Brighton & Hove to Add Over 200 New Rapid EV Charging Bays in Partnership with Believ
The operator aims to improve network reliability while making more efficient use of public space. The locations covered by the transition include Elm Grove, London Road Car Park and King Alfred Car Park.
Public charging infrastructure is particularly important in Brighton & Hove, where 54% of residents do not have access to off-street parking, according to Believ.
Guy Bartlett, CEO of Believ, said the network would support residents who rely on public charging facilities.
“With more than half of all households without access to off-street parking, public charging is vital to the region’s transition to EVs and delivering clean air for all. By retaining equipment where possible, upgrading rapid charging locations and working closely with the local authority, we’re taking a practical approach to delivering a reliable network for Brighton.”
Separate Project to Add More Than 210 Rapid Chargers
The takeover of Blink Charging’s infrastructure is separate from a larger partnership between Believ and Brighton & Hove City Council to expand high-powered charging availability across the city.
Under that programme, Believ is working to install more than 210 additional rapid and ultra-rapid charging points. Deployment is already underway, with completion scheduled for the end of 2028.
The council selected Believ for the project in June 2025. The original plans provided for up to 208 charging units, but the planned deployment has since increased.

Believ to Install More Than 600 EV Charging Points Across Ayrshire
By taking over more than 110 existing chargers and upgrading selected rapid charging sites, the company is adding operational infrastructure while continuing to develop a separate pipeline of new high-powered charging locations.
The combined programme is intended to improve public charging access for residents and visitors, particularly those without private parking or the ability to install home charging equipment.
