Avatr Technology, previously known as Changan Nio, has joined Nio’s (NYSE: NIO) charging network, becoming the 14th electric vehicle (EV) brand to collaborate with the platform.

Avatr Technology announced its partnership with Nio Power, enabling its customers to access Nio’s charging stations through the Avatr App. This integration aims to provide broader coverage, simplified inquiries, and greater convenience for Avatr users.

Established in 2018 as a joint venture between Changan Automobile and Nio, Avatr Technology has since transitioned to operate independently of Nio. The new partnership reflects a trend among automakers leveraging Nio’s established charging infrastructure to enhance their own customer offerings.

Nio Power operates one of the most extensive EV charging networks in China, featuring 2,442 supercharging stations with 11,206 charging piles and 1,660 destination charging stations equipped with 12,887 charging piles. Additionally, the network includes 2,659 battery swap stations, with 876 located along highways.

Several other brands, such as Chery, Dongfeng M-Hero, Huawei HIMA, FAW Hongqi, and GAC Energy, have also partnered with Nio to utilize its charging facilities, underscoring its role in the broader EV charging ecosystem.

Changan Automobile previously partnered with Nio on November 21, 2023, to collaborate on battery swap services, marking the first external partnership for Nio’s battery swap network. The agreement includes working on standardizing battery swap systems, expanding infrastructure, and exploring vehicle compatibility with swap technology.

The integration of Avatr Technology into Nio’s network reflects an ongoing effort by automakers to strengthen charging infrastructure and improve access for EV owners, supporting the broader adoption of electric mobility.
