EU Electric Car Registrations Rise 30% In August, But Tesla Sales Continue To Decline
Registrations of new electric cars in the European Union rose 30.2% year-on-year in August, according to industry association ACEA, as battery-powered vehicles expanded their market share despite flat overall car sales. U.S. carmaker Tesla, however, bucked the trend with a sharp decline in deliveries. A total of 120,797 fully electric cars were registered in the EU during August, giving the segment a 15.8% market share, up from 12.6% a year earlier. Gatik, an autonomous freight logistics firm, and Canadian retailer Loblaw Companies Ltd said on Tuesday they will deploy 50 autonomous trucks over the next five years in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), expanding a partnership first launched in 2022. Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Avatr Technology, a subsidiary of Changan Automobile, is preparing to file for an initial public offering (IPO) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Irish-British startup Go Eve said it has secured UL 2202 certification for its DockChain EV charging system and begun US production in Michigan, marking a key step toward expanding its scalable DC fast-charging solution across North America.
