Alexander Dennis has announced its continued involvement in the CAVForth2 project, aimed at developing autonomous bus technology. The project is being led by Fusion Processing Ltd and is supported by the UK government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. CampervanCo, a Scottish company, introduces its new multi-functional electric camper built on the Toyota Proace van. Dubbed the Proace Eco Revolution, this campervan features a full kitchen and seating for four, but its modular design allows for the removal of the kitchen and beds, transforming it into a seven-seater MPV. The vehicle retains the Proace EV’s drivetrain with a 100kW motor and 50/75kWh battery options, providing a range of 144 to 205 miles. Xos, Inc. and Loomis have taken a major step in reducing their carbon footprint by signing a purchase order for 150 additional armored electric vehicles for the US market. Loomis has been a pioneer in the use of armored EVs since 2019 when they first deployed 20 vehicles from Xos. As the largest contributor to the company’s carbon emissions comes from transportation, Loomis is dedicated to reducing its fleet emissions. Stem and ChargePoint Holdings, Inc. have joined forces to offer a new solution aimed at generating economic, environmental and resilience benefits for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The new offering integrates Stem’s clean energy platform, Athena, with ChargePoint’s Express Platform and on-site energy storage. The goal is to drive cost savings and maximize value over the lifetime of the assets. BYD has launched its first electric vehicle (EV) model in Japan, the Atto 3. According to a report by Nikkei, the model is priced at 4.4 million yen ($33,800), which is cheaper than Tesla and Nissan EVs, and deliveries are expected to start in March. Volkswagen Group has assessed the progress of its global fast-charging network. As of 2022, approximately 15,000 out of 45,000 planned fast-charging stations with a capacity of up to 350 kW have been connected to the grid. The company announced its intention to work with partners to build a fast-charging network accessible to all EVs globally during Power Day 2021.
