British equipment manufacturer Anaphite has secured €12.5 million in a Series A financing round aimed at advancing its dry coating technology for battery electrodes. The total funding raised amounts to $13.7 million (£10.4 million), which will enable the company to scale its patented dry coating precursor (DCP) technology. Anaphite’s DCP technology is projected to reduce the carbon intensity of electric vehicle (EV) battery production by 30% and lower costs by 40%. The company has stated that it is already collaborating with various global car and battery cell manufacturers. World Fund and Maniv were the leading investors in this funding round,…
Chargemap, an electric vehicle (EV) charging service, has expanded its compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network to most European countries, following a successful initial rollout in France. This extension allows Chargemap users to access Tesla’s Superchargers using their Chargemap Pass, enhancing convenience for EV drivers across the continent. Tesla’s integration into the Gireve roaming platform last spring enabled electric mobility service providers connected to the platform to access the Supercharger network. Chargemap was the first to utilize this connection, launching a test phase in France. With the recent expansion, Chargemap users can now use their Chargemap Pass at Supercharger locations in…
LCP Group, a UK-based commercial property company, has expanded its partnership with PoGo Charge to install ultra-rapid DC charging points at 52 retail locations across the UK. This agreement is an extension of a previous contract signed in November 2023. Under the updated deal, PoGo Charge will add 254 ultra-rapid DC (UR DC) charging points to the 252 deployed in the first phase of the partnership. The initial installation at Washington Retail Park is already operational, featuring eight PoGo Touch Plus Ultra-Rapid DC chargers. PoGo Charge stated that these units offer “the fastest charging speeds of any charger currently in…
Alexander Dennis has officially introduced the next-generation Enviro400EV battery-electric double-decker bus, designed to meet Transport for London’s (TfL) specifications. The new Enviro400EV features a 472kWh battery as standard, with an offered warranty of 14 years or 1 million kilometers, whichever comes first, under normal operating conditions. A 354kWh battery variant is also available at a lower price point. The bus can be fully charged in as little as three hours using a DC plug connection, with even faster charging possible through optional roof-mounted connector rails for pantographs. The 472kWh variant can accommodate up to 87 passengers, while the 354kWh version…
Mercedes-Benz has received authorization to test Level 4 (L4) autonomous vehicles in Beijing, becoming the first international car brand to obtain such permission in the Chinese capital. This follows the approval for Level 3 (L3) testing granted late last year. The new testing phase will cover city roads, highways, and expressways. The trials aim to examine the multi-sensor perception capabilities of advanced autonomous driving systems and their performance under extreme conditions, focusing on the integration of perception and regulation. L4 autonomous vehicles are capable of completing driving tasks in most scenarios without driver intervention. In urban environments, these vehicles can…
Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle division of Xiaomi Corp (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), announced that its SU7 model achieved deliveries exceeding 10,000 units in July, marking the second consecutive month the figure has been surpassed. The company did not disclose specific delivery numbers for July but indicated it plans to maintain this performance level in August and expects to reach its annual delivery goal of 100,000 units by November, ahead of schedule. “The delivery ramp-up of the Xiaomi SU7 was progressing well,” Xiaomi EV stated in a Weibo post on July 2. “The factory has opened double-shift production in June,…
LG Energy Solution (LGES) is evaluating the possibility of establishing a battery production plant in Morocco to serve the European market. The South Korean battery supplier aims to leverage Morocco’s strategic location and industrial capabilities to export batteries to Europe. “Morocco is a key candidate for this expansion due to its strategic location and growing industrial capabilities,” said Wonjoon Suh, head of LGES’ advanced automotive battery division. Suh revealed that LGES is considering three locations for the new battery plant, with Finland and Indonesia also in the running. https://evmagz.com/lg-energy-solution-and-gm-slow-construction-of-michigan-battery-plant/ The proposed plant is part of LGES’s strategy to build a…
First Hydrogen will configure a left-hand drive version of its hydrogen-powered fuel cell light commercial vehicle (FCEV) following successful trials in the UK. The company aims to offer the vehicle in the United States, Mexico, South America, and Europe. With locations in Vancouver and Montreal in Canada, as well as London in the UK, First Hydrogen is well-positioned to expand its market reach. The company already has a German website, indicating potential plans to introduce its fuel-cell-powered transporter in the country, although this has not been officially confirmed. First Hydrogen has identified the European Union as a promising market. “The…
Tesla’s Giga Shanghai factory is reportedly operating at full capacity once again. This update was shared by Chinese media outlet Jiemian News, which recently toured Tesla’s Shanghai-based Model 3 and Model Y production plant. Earlier this year, reports suggested that Tesla was reducing the vehicle production output of Giga Shanghai. In late May, Reuters noted that the electric vehicle maker planned to cut at least 20% of the facility’s production between March and June 2024. While Tesla China remained silent about these reports, new vehicle registrations and exports this year fell below last year’s levels. Now in the third quarter,…
A joint study by Fraunhofer ISI and Amazon has found that Europe requires fewer public fast-charging stations for long-haul electric trucks than previously expected. Utilizing Amazon’s open-source tool CHALET, the study analyzed 20,000 potential locations along European motorways and concluded that just 1,000 public megawatt charging stations could cover 91% of the anticipated long-distance electric truck traffic by 2030. The study, part of the BMDV-funded HoLa project, aims to optimize the infrastructure for high-power charging of electric lorries. The analysis was based on traffic volume projections for 2030 and 1.6 million truck trip combinations. The findings support the EU’s Alternative…
Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast has adjusted its business strategy, delaying the launch of its planned $4 billion factory in North Carolina to 2028. The decision comes as the company faces challenges in the global EV market, including economic uncertainties and shifting consumer preferences. VinFast, founded by Vietnam’s wealthiest individual, Pham Nhat Vuong, in 2017, has pivoted to producing fully electric vehicles since 2022. Despite initially planning to deliver 100,000 vehicles this year, the company has revised its forecast downward to 80,000 units due to ongoing market dynamics. “While the second-quarter delivery results were encouraging, ongoing economic headwinds and…
ZeroAvia has unveiled a groundbreaking AI-driven software aimed at revolutionizing hydrogen production costs. Named Smart Hydrogen AI Production Software (SHAIPS), the technology boasts significant reductions in the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) through advanced optimization strategies. “Real-world testing of the Smart Hydrogen AI Production Software (SHAIPS) has shown in excess of a 20 percent reduction of the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) compared to an electrolyzer generating all H2 based on the average electricity wholesale price,” the company stated in a recent press release. SHAIPS integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure, including renewable energy sources like solar, battery storage systems, electrolyzers,…
