Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD said Tuesday that it will launch a new premium electric car brand in the first quarter of 2023. The premium electric car brand comes under the name Yangwang and its first model is slated to be an off-road vehicle. Honda Motor Co launched the second model of its new line of electric vehicles (EVs) marketed only in China, Saturday, November 5, 2022. Tesla closed their first showroom in China in the city of Beijing Parkview Green. The purpose of the closure is to minimize rental costs, and will move to another location that is cheaper and affordable for Tesla users. BYD in October 2022 sold 217,816 new energy vehicles (NEVs) which is a new all-time high. This achievement was recorded for the second time in a row more than 200,000 units. Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacturer CALB will build its first European production facility in Portugal. This marks an important step for CALB in the international market. CALB and the Portuguese government signed a memorandum of cooperation on 2 November in Sines, Sebatul, Portugal. Covid-19 restrictions kept NIO’s October deliveries from hitting record highs as previously thought, a report from Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter said. In its report, Bloomberg said the Covid-19 restrictions saw the loss of about 7,000 electric vehicles in production, meaning shipments had fallen by about 5,000. Figures released on November 1 showed NIO delivered 10,059 vehicles in October, down 7.5 percent from 10,878 in September.
