Audi is gearing up for the debut of its refreshed e-tron GT, with prototypes hitting the streets for testing. The new electric sports car is expected to incorporate upgrades from the new Porsche Taycan Turbo, including a larger battery, increased range, and improved performance.
The e-tron GT, much like the Porsche Taycan, was among the first EVs to be discussed in terms of performance and style alongside the Tesla Model S.
Porsche recently unveiled significant upgrades for the 2025 Taycan, boasting longer range, faster charging, and enhanced performance. According to Kevin Giek, head of the product line, the new Taycan achieves “new heights in terms of performance.”
Following this, Porsche introduced the 1,092 hp Taycan Turbo GT, its fastest street-legal vehicle ever, capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds. The Taycan Turbo GT, equipped with the Weissach Package, claimed the fastest production car title at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, surpassing Tesla’s Model S Plaid.
Now, Audi is preparing for its own refresh. The company teased the new e-tron GT prototype, showcasing its wide body and low-sitting design. Although still camouflaged, the front bumper appears to have been redesigned, potentially incorporating upgrades seen on the new Taycan, such as larger air vents and sleek new headlights. The new e-tron GT will also feature Audi’s new badging, as shown on the Q8 e-tron.
Audi has revealed that the new electric sports car will come with an improved suspension for enhanced driving dynamics, expected to include the Taycan’s new dual-valve dampers and Torque Vectoring Plus rear differential.
While full details are yet to be revealed, the car is expected to feature more powerful motors, an enhanced battery, and upgraded driving dynamics.
A recent prototype was spotted during winter testing in Scandinavia, showcasing the sleek electric sports car navigating icy conditions with agility. Audi’s current e-tron GT offers up to 523 hp, but the new model isn’t expected to match the power of the Taycan Turbo GT, which boasts up to 1,092 hp.
