Atos, the global technology and digital services company, unveiled its integral role in advancing ACC’s lithium-ion battery manufacturing capabilities. ACC, an emerging player in the electric vehicle (EV) battery sector, is gearing up to produce over two million lithium-ion batteries annually. To meet this ambitious target, ACC recognized the crucial need for a “best-in-class IT infrastructure.”

Atos’ involvement in this strategic initiative extends to its teams in Bordeaux, which will be responsible for project management and systems expertise. Renowned for their proficiency in managed infrastructure services, these teams are well-positioned to ensure the project’s seamless execution. Furthermore, Atos’ Global Delivery Center in Poland will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the network and infrastructure operations associated with this pivotal undertaking.

The inaugural ACC factory, located in Billy-Berclau near Douvrin, France, opened its doors at the end of May and is slated for full operational status by 2023. The subsequent two ACC factories, set to be established in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Termoli, Italy, are scheduled to commence battery cell production in 2025 and 2026, respectively.

FranƧois Carrot, Chief Information Officer of ACC, emphasized the significance of an impeccable IT infrastructure in their manufacturing processes, stating, “Several factors influence the proper implementation of our manufacturing processes; among them, a flawless IT infrastructure. The latter is a prerequisite for the ramp-up of the Billy-Berclau site and nominal capacity by end-2024.” He also underlined their choice of Atos to supervise and maintain their three gigafactories, citing the quality of their proposal and their expertise in engineering robust, industrialized, cost-effective, and transparent digital environments.

StĆ©phane Richard, Global Head of Technology Advisory & Customized Services at Atos, expressed pride in supporting ACC’s manufacturing expansion and contributing to the development of electric battery production in France. He highlighted Atos’ commitment to decarbonizing industries through technological innovations and thanked ACC for entrusting them with their expertise.

Atos’ pivotal role in bolstering ACC’s EV battery production endeavors signifies a promising step toward a sustainable and electrified future in the automotive industry, as robust IT infrastructure forms the bedrock of modern manufacturing processes.
