Atlante, the charging infrastructure operator, has secured a contract to install 19 electric vehicle (EV) charging points at Turin Airport on behalf of airport operator SAGAT, with provisions for future expansion. The charging points, offering capacities ranging from 22 to 200 kW, will be located in six areas across the airport.
The project, part of the ‘Torino Green Airport’ plan launched by SAGAT in 2021, aims to enhance the airport’s sustainability by improving energy efficiency, reducing consumption and emissions, and increasing self-production from renewable sources. Atlante’s charging infrastructure, powered by renewable energy, aligns with these goals.
Stefano Terranova, CEO of Atlante, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “Thanks to our charging stations powered by renewable energy, we will contribute to the sustainability plan of Torino Airport, offering a valuable service to all travelers, users of the airport and the surrounding community, building a mobility ecosystem that enables charging of any electric vehicle in a few minutes.”
The installation will include canopies and battery storage systems to manage peak loads. Additionally, an innovative solution to prevent unauthorized parking at the charging stations will be implemented, ensuring accessibility for all passengers, accompanying persons, car hire companies, and individuals with reduced mobility.
Atlante’s expansion at Turin Airport marks a significant milestone, as the company now boasts over 50 charging points at key Italian airports, including Rome-Fiumicino, Milan-Linate, Malpensa, and Turin. The company’s growth extends beyond airports, with plans to offer charging facilities along Italian motorways. Recently, Atlante won a tender from Italian motorway operator Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI) to construct and operate over 90 fast-charging points with outputs of up to 400 kW at eight service stations.
