Ästad Vingård, one of Sweden’s largest commercial vineyards, has adopted electric machinery to enhance its sustainability efforts and maintain the integrity of its award-winning wines.
The vineyard, located in the Åkulla beech forest nature reserve, now utilizes a Volvo L25 Electric compact wheel loader, reducing emissions and noise pollution in its operations.

The electric wheel loader plays a crucial role in vineyard maintenance, handling landscaping, waste transport, and snow removal without the noise and fumes associated with traditional diesel-powered machinery.

Powered by a 40 kWh battery and a 48V electrical system, the Volvo L25 Electric features two motors—one for propulsion and another for hydraulic operations—offering a lifting capacity exceeding 12,300 pounds.
With up to eight hours of continuous operation, the loader meets the vineyard’s daily needs while preserving the serene atmosphere for guests visiting its Michelin-starred restaurant and winery tours.
