Aspark Owl Electric Hypercar Shatters World Records, Averages Nearly 200 mph in Quarter Mile

In a remarkable display of automotive performance, the Aspark Owl electric hypercar has shattered two world records, solidifying its position as a powerhouse in the industry. During a recent event at England’s Elvington airfield, the Owl achieved unprecedented average speeds over both an eighth mile and a quarter mile, reaching remarkable velocities.

The first record set by the Aspark Owl was the average speed over an eighth mile, clocking in at an astonishing 192.03 mph (309.02 km/h). This remarkable feat showcases the hypercar’s exceptional acceleration in the initial moments after launching from the starting line. The small discrepancy between this record and the subsequent one emphasizes the Owl’s ability to rapidly gain momentum, propelling itself towards its top speed of 249 mph (400 km/h).

The second record achieved by the Aspark Owl was the average speed over a quarter mile, where it reached an impressive 198.12 mph (318.85 km/h). This accomplishment further demonstrates the hypercar’s remarkable performance and establishes its dominance in straight-line acceleration. Notably, these records have been officially ratified by Guinness World Records, solidifying their authenticity and significance.

Although Aspark did not explicitly aim to set acceleration records during this event, it is worth noting that the Owl has previously recorded an astonishing zero to 60 mph time of 1.72 seconds. This exceptional acceleration puts it in direct competition with its rival, the Rimac Nevera, which achieved a time of 1.74 seconds. Aspark even claims that the Owl has the potential to dip below the 1.7-second mark, showcasing its relentless pursuit of pushing the boundaries of speed and performance.

Powering the Aspark Owl is a cutting-edge quad-motor drivetrain that delivers an astounding 1,985 horsepower (1,480 kW / 2,012 PS) and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque. Remarkably, these impressive figures are harnessed by a relatively compact 64 kWh battery, showcasing the hypercar’s exceptional efficiency. Aspark asserts that this battery size allows for a range of over 280 miles (450 km), although it is important to note that this measurement is based on the outdated and overly optimistic NEDC protocol.

With its extraordinary performance and limited production run, the Aspark Owl is set to be a highly exclusive hypercar, with only 50 units scheduled for production. The starting price for this cutting-edge marvel of automotive engineering begins at €2.9 million ($3.5 million / £2.6 million). As the automotive industry continues to embrace electric powertrains, the Aspark Owl stands as a testament to the remarkable capabilities and thrilling advancements in electric hypercar technology.
