Arriva has successfully clinched a new contract to extend its services in the West Brabant region of the Netherlands, following a competitive tender process. The company’s winning proposal emphasized a resilient and forward-looking network featuring faster and smarter transport options, accompanied by a substantial investment in an entirely new fleet of zero-emission electric buses.

The forthcoming fleet, comprising over 200 zero-emission vehicles, is slated to commence operations from July 2025 onwards. Arriva aims to transition its entire fleet operating in West Brabant to emission-free vehicles by no later than 2030.

The winning bid promises an expanded timetable, introducing more direct bus routes that eliminate the need for passengers to transfer between different buses to reach their final destination. The new contract is set to take effect in July 2025, with the first batch of the new buses arriving at the beginning of the agreement.

Arriva’s commitment to sustainability aligns with its plan to introduce environmentally friendly transport solutions. The company’s focus on zero-emission buses underscores a broader industry trend towards greener alternatives.

In addition to its operational advancements, Arriva’s Mobility as a Service (MaaS) offering, known as “glimble by Arriva,” plays a vital role in the Netherlands. West Brabant, fully served by “glimble,” facilitates seamless travel by connecting passengers across the country with various modes of transport from different operating companies. Since its introduction in the Netherlands in 2021, “glimble” has garnered more than 300,000 users and recently expanded its services to Trieste, Italy..
