In a strategic move set to revolutionize urban air mobility, Archer Aviation has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Signature Aviation, a premier operator of private airport terminals. This landmark agreement paves the way for the integration of eVTOL air taxi services at key United Airlines hubs and a network of private airport terminals across the United States.
With this collaboration, Archer Aviation, a California-based leader in electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is poised to democratize commercial air travel, offering seamless, efficient, and sustainable urban transportation solutions. The company’s innovative approach has garnered widespread acclaim, propelling it to the forefront of the burgeoning eVTOL sector.
Archer’s expansion efforts extend beyond US borders, with plans underway to introduce air taxi services in the United Arab Emirates, India, and South Korea. This global outlook underscores Archer’s commitment to advancing air mobility on a worldwide scale.
The MoU with Signature Aviation underscores Archer’s strategic partnership with United Airlines, an investor in the company. This collaboration opens avenues for launching air taxi services at major United hubs, including Newark International (EWR) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) Airports.
Bryan Bernhard, Archer’s Chief Growth & Infrastructure Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to join forces with Signature Aviation to advance the infrastructure needed to support the future of urban air mobility. By focusing on electrifying key aviation assets in major cities such as New York and Chicago, we are taking essential steps toward making sustainable and efficient air travel a reality.”
Archer and Signature Aviation plan to collaborate with Beta Technologies to implement the necessary charging infrastructure at airports in Signature’s existing network, including HOU, OAK, and VNY, in addition to O’Hare and Newark. The partners aim to electrify initial launch locations as early as 2025, with further expansion plans in Signature’s global network as Archer’s eVTOL aircraft becomes more widely available for commercial operations.
