Aprilia seems ready to enter the electric motorcycle industry. The two-wheeled company from Italy is seen developing an electric motorbike project called Electrica.
Judging from its name, Aprilia’s Electrica is similar to the Vespa Elettrica. And that is understandable because the Piaggio Group is the parent company of Aprilia and Vespa.
The Piaggio Group seems to have been serious about developing electric motorbikes since 1970, where they also introduced a hybrid scooter with the name MP3 Hybrid in 2009.
Meanwhile, Aprilia confirmed that Electrica will be an electric motorbike that is very comfortable to drive.
Reporting from Visordown, Aprilia explained that the Electrica project is an emission-free light motorbike concept that is comfortable to ride and has maximum power to get around in the cities of the future.
Meanwhile, if you look at the published concept images, the appearance of the Electrica is like a naked sports motorbike, where the triple clamp is similar to the Aprilia Tuono and the tail section is similar to the RSV4.
However, the design of the Electrica project looks like a supermoto only the size looks smaller.
Discussing the specifications, Aprilia has not provided further details. However, the drive uses a chain to the rear wheels, namely the dynamo which is located in the middle.
It is also known that the Piaggio Group is one of the four founding members of the SBMC (Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium), which can be interpreted as the battery that will be used by Electrica comes with a swappable feature.
