Since its first launch last July, Amazon’s electric Van from Rivian has delivered more than 5 million packages to customers in the US.
Now, Amazon is ready for its first holiday season by launching hundreds of its electric delivery fleet in more than a dozen cities.
The cities in question include Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, and St. Louis.
“We’re always excited for the holiday season, but making deliveries to customers across the country in our new zero-emissions vehicle for the first time makes this year unique,” said Udit Madan, Amazon’s vice president of Transportation in a statement shared on Amazon’s official Twitter.

Further, Madan revealed that customers will start seeing Amazon electric delivery vans in new cities, including Austin, Boston, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Madison, Newark, New York, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Portland, Provo and Salt Lake City.
Amazon has now expanded its fleet, and now has more than 1,000 electric delivery vehicles making deliveries in more than 100 cities across the US.
The expansion comes as Amazon and Rivian continue their progress to have thousands of electric vehicles on the road by the end of the year and 100,000 vehicles by 2030.
“We have shipped over 5 million packages with our Rivian-manufactured vehicles, and this is just the beginning that number will grow exponentially as we continue to make progress towards our 100,000-vehicle goal,” he said.
On the other hand, Jiten Behl as chief growth officer at Rivian said that fleet electrification is very important to achieve the world’s zero emission goal.
âSo to see our production increase supporting Amazon’s launch in cities across the country has been amazing. Not only for the environment, but also for our team who are working hard to bring tens of thousands of electric delivery vehicles on the road.”
Amazon is committed to achieving net-zero carbon by 2040 as part of its commitment to The Climate Pledge.
With its commitment to have 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030, Amazon will eliminate millions of metric tons of carbon per year.
