Dutch charging infrastructure provider, Alfen, has entered into a significant four-year framework agreement with E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI) to supply AC charging stations across various European countries. The deal solidifies Alfen’s position as one of EDRI’s “preferred suppliers,” as disclosed in an official press release.
The initial phase of installation is set to take place in Germany, with more than 300 Eve Double PG-line units earmarked for deployment, including 140 in the capital city of Berlin. The ambitious plan also includes the expansion of charging stations to cities such as Dortmund, Essen, and Bochum, although specific quantities for the four-year period have not been disclosed.
Beyond Germany, EDRI intends to utilize Alfen’s innovative Twin 5 charger in several other European countries. Noteworthy features of this charging solution include support for Plug&Charge functionality and bidirectional charging capabilities. Additionally, the Twin 4XL charging station will be deployed in Italy, a robust column featuring two connections.
Alfen has emphasized the customization of certain charging stations for EDRI, tailoring the units to meet specific city requirements. For instance, the units destined for Berlin will sport a particular shade of grey to comply with the city’s mandate for a uniform appearance across public charging stations. In other locations, the charging stations will feature a darker grey color with distinctive branding.
Jan-Anne Hoekstra, Commercial Director for the EV Charging Equipment division at Alfen, expressed satisfaction at being selected by E.ON Drive Infrastructure. Hoekstra highlighted the company’s pride in providing EDRI with cutting-edge technology and expertise to align market demands with Alfen’s products and services.
E.ON Drive Infrastructure presently manages an extensive network of over 4,000 public charging points across ten European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway, the UK, Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
