Alexander Reinhardt has been named Chief Executive Officer of Ubitricity, a Berlin-based Shell subsidiary specializing in public EV charging infrastructure. Reinhardt, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer, officially assumed the CEO role at the beginning of the year, succeeding Daniel Kunkel, who led the company for three years.

Reinhardt has been a pivotal figure at Ubitricity since joining in 2014 as a project manager. Over the years, he played a significant role in transitioning the company from a startup to a Shell acquisition in 2021. During his tenure as COO, Reinhardt helped expand Ubitricityā€™s operations across four key markets: the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. He now leads the company as it broadens its EV charging solutions beyond its initial focus on streetlight charging to include faster and more versatile charging options.

ā€œImproving access to public charging is crucial for the continued adoption of electric vehicles, and I believe Ubitricity can play a significant role in this transition,ā€ Reinhardt said. ā€œHaving dedicated over a decade to Ubitricity, I am excited to lead this company into its next chapter with the Shell group as we continue to innovate and expand our EV charging network even further across Europe.ā€

Outgoing CEO Daniel Kunkel praised Reinhardtā€™s leadership capabilities and expressed confidence in his successor. ā€œHaving worked closely with Alexander for several years, Iā€™m confident that his deep understanding of Ubitricityā€™s operations and his vision for the future make him an exceptional choice for CEO,ā€ Kunkel said. Under Kunkelā€™s leadership, Ubitricity grew its network to nearly 14,000 public charging points, establishing itself as a leader in the European charge point industry.

Kunkel noted the companyā€™s transformation from a product-focused business into a customer-centric operation as part of the Shell group. While his next role remains undisclosed, Kunkel emphasized the dedication of Ubitricityā€™s team in achieving its recent milestones.

Ubitricity operates more than 9,000 public charging points in the UK alone, claiming the largest network in the country, with additional infrastructure in Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Reinhardtā€™s vision is to build on this foundation, driving innovation and expanding the network to further support the transition to electric mobility.

As Ubitricity evolves, the companyā€™s focus remains on enhancing access to public charging infrastructure, aligning with Shellā€™s broader Mobility division goals to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles across Europe.
