AeroVolt, a company specializing in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) charging infrastructure, has successfully initiated operations at five charging locations in the UK since August 2023. The company aims to scale its network to 24 sites by 2025 and envisions a long-term expansion to over 60 charging locations.
AeroVolt’s initial charging stations boast a rated output of 22 kW, with plans underway for the installation of more powerful 44 kW chargers this year. The company has also committed to introducing 120 kW chargers in the near future.

Among the future users of AeroVolt’s charging network is Skyfly, an eVTOL developer set to launch its two-seater Axe model in 2025. Skyfly claims the Axe can travel 100 miles (160 kilometers) on electric power alone or extend its range to 300 miles (480 kilometers) with an optional generator. Both companies have expressed intentions to showcase the first eVTOL flight between two different UK aerodromes this year.
“We are delighted to partner with Aerovolt, who have developed by far the most advanced aircraft charging network in Europe, if not globally. It shows the UK’s appetite for low cost, low emission, and low noise flying. We cannot wait to demonstrate this capability on a real flight route which will hopefully prove to the non-believers that electric aviation is the future of mobility,” stated Michael Thompson, CEO of Skyfly.

AeroVolt’s Chief Operating Officer, Alan Kingsley-Dobson, expressed enthusiasm about working with Skyfly, noting, “The Axe is a truly forward-thinking design in the emerging eVTOL market.” He highlighted the significance of a robust charging infrastructure for customers and future development.
Charging stations are currently accessible through AeroVolt’s “Squadron” subscription, allowing members to rent the Pipistrel Velis Electro e-aircraft and utilize AeroVolt’s charging facilities. Additionally, in the near future, the charging network will be accessible via “Octopus Electroverse,” a charging app from energy supplier Octopus Energy, a notable player in the British electric vehicle market.
