Cadillac releases autonomous electric vehicles concept

Like many car manufacturers transitioning to electrified vehicles, Cadillac is releasing several electric car concepts in the future. These electric car concepts consist of a flying car, autonomous van, and a two-seater autonomous EV dubbed the InnerSpace Concept.

The recently revealed InnerSpace concept car, Cadillac saw the unusual shape of the car body and wanted to build a ‘space’ that fits the autonomous characteristics of the car.

With this in mind, the car has the ability to use biometric data to sense a passenger’s mood and use this information to determine the appropriate driving mode, audio selection, lighting options and in-cab scents.

GM Vice President of Global Design Mike Simcoe said, “This electric car concept developed for a world that demands intimacy and relaxation has become a precious and rare commodity. InnerSpace puts health and human connection at the center of a driverless environment, enabling two passengers to focus on their journey.”

Reportedly, Cadillac will not bring a concept version of the InnerSpace to market, as it will affect future EV designs.

“They were expecting something very different. We really need to try to make a few big changes in the way we introduce the types of products we provide to consumers,” said General Motors Interior Design Manager, Joe Baker.

For information, Cadillac is focused on starting deliveries of the fully electric Lyriq in the coming months and will continue with the Cadillac Celestiq which is a luxury electric sedan.
