Everything You should know about Mine SPA1

The development of electric vehicles, both globally and in Southeast Asia, is moving quite quickly. One of the countries that has ambitions to launch a national electric car is Thailand by presenting the Mine SPA1 concept.

The latest news, the concept of an electric vehicle made in Thailand has entered the testing phase. This environmentally friendly car is a collaboration between the Thai energy group PTT and a company from Taiwan, Foxconn. This vehicle is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 30 kWh to drive a motor capable of producing up to 127 ps of power with a maximum torque of 220 Nm.

The maximum speed of this vehicle, is 140 km per hour, with a maximum range of 200 km on a single battery charge in the NEDC cycle.

Meanwhile, this electric vehicle is indeed a serious project from Energy Absolute (EA) as one of the largest renewable electricity producers in Thailand. The reason is, in December 2021, through its subsidiary Amita Technology, AE opened the first gigafactory in ASEAN, as a battery and energy storage system (ESS) production facility in Chachoengsao, Thailand.

The $178 million lithium-ion battery plant is said to have the largest production capacity in the region. Officials say the factory produces pouch cell type lithium-ion batteries, which are lightweight and offer long life and support fast charging for large EVs, such as buses, trucks and even boats.

The battery of this bus-sized electric vehicle can be used for up to 240 km on a single charge, and EA says the plant’s initial production capacity can serve up to 4,160 electric buses per year.
