Redwood Materials is kicking off 2025 with significant momentum after a strong year of accomplishments. In 2024, the battery recycling company made headlines by beginning production of battery anode copper foil at its hydrometallurgical facility, marking a pivotal milestone.

The facility, which is the first commercial-scale “mine” to open in the U.S. in years, also became the sole source of domestic lithium supply in the country in decades.

By November, Redwood’s CEO, JB Straubel, confirmed the company was on track to achieve $200 million in revenue, thanks in part to key partnerships with General Motors and Toyota.

Looking ahead to 2025, Redwood is continuing its expansion efforts. The company is constructing the first commercial cathode facility in the United States and working on opening a new campus in South Carolina to further boost its operations and meet the growing demand for sustainable materials in the electric vehicle supply chain.
