Jiyue, the electric vehicle maker established by Baidu and Geely Holding Group, revealed its futuristic Robo X electric supercar at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show on Friday.
Designed to showcase the brand’s innovative capabilities, the Robo X is a high-performance AI-driven vehicle that integrates advanced autonomous driving technology and bold aerodynamic design.
The Robo X, Jiyue’s most ambitious project to date, is equipped with a high-performance drive system capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 1.9 seconds. It also features a lightweight unibody carbon fiber frame and 5052 aluminum alloy structure, resulting in a total weight of 1,850 kg.
Offering a maximum range of over 650 kilometers, the two-seater supercar demonstrates the company’s vision for the future of electric supercars. Pre-orders are now open, requiring a deposit of RMB 49,999 ($6,910), with mass production expected to begin in 2027.
Incorporating Baidu Apollo’s L4 autonomous driving technology, the Robo X is designed for track-level performance and pushes the boundaries of traditional supercar functionality. Jiyue highlighted that this is the first time such advanced smart-driving capabilities have been applied to a supercar, signaling a significant leap in both the electric vehicle and autonomous driving industries. “For the next 20 years, the design of supercars will bear the shadow of Robo X,” said Jiyue CEO Joe Xia. He described the Robo X as “the best design in the history of Chinese automobiles today.”
Inspired by fighter jet aesthetics, the Robo X features eagle-wing doors and a large split tail to enhance aerodynamics. Its cockpit mirrors the functionality of a fighter jet, integrating a virtual assistant named Simo, powered by Jiyue’s proprietary AI voice technology. Drivers can use voice commands to monitor motor torque, chassis dynamics, and thermal management, offering a blend of luxury and cutting-edge tech.
Alongside the Robo X, Jiyue introduced the Passion Edition variant of the Jiyue 07 sedan, priced at RMB 279,900 and limited to 88 units. The model features a 100-kWh CALT battery, delivering a CLTC-certified range of 770 kilometers. A dual-motor, four-wheel-drive system provides a combined output of 400 kW and a peak torque of 686 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
Jiyue also showcased updates to its Jiyue 01 SUV, now equipped with an upgraded electric drive system and an extended range of 780 kilometers. With a starting price of RMB 219,900, the Jiyue 01 reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing its lineup of electric vehicles
