French charging infrastructure company Electra has announced plans to install at least 20 fast-charging stations at Burger King locations across Belgium within two years, with expansion plans underway for Switzerland. Electra’s collaboration with the fast-food chain began on October 23 with the opening of its first fast-charging station at a Burger King in Zandhoven, featuring six charging points powered by Alpitronic’s HYC400 hypercharger.

Each charging station will include a minimum of four fast-charging points and typically six, with charging speeds up to 400 kW. The stations will remain accessible outside of Burger King’s operating hours, according to Electra, allowing for greater flexibility for EV drivers. These efforts are supported by a recent €75 million loan from four banks to accelerate Electra’s expansion in Belgium, funding up to 60% of fast-charging projects at Burger King and other locations.

Electra is also making strides in Switzerland with a new partnership agreement with Accor Invest. The Swiss expansion will equip Accor hotel car parks with high-performance charging points. The collaboration follows Electra’s previous projects with Accor Invest in France and Germany, where installations of chargers offering up to 400 kW are underway at various hotel brands, including Ibis, Mercure, and Novotel.

“The expansion with Accor Invest highlights our commitment to making fast charging accessible and convenient across Europe,” Electra noted, with initial Swiss installations set to open early next year.
