Hyzon, a U.S.-based hydrogen fuel cell system manufacturer, has signed a purchase agreement with GreenWaste, marking the introduction of North America’s first hydrogen-powered refuse Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs).
This agreement follows a successful trial of Hyzon’s refuse collection FCEVs, which completed test routes in California’s Bay Area, demonstrating payload capacity, can-lifts, and range capabilities.
The zero-emission trucks will be developed through a collaboration between Hyzon and New Way Trucks, a leading refuse truck body manufacturer. Parker Meeks, CEO of Hyzon, noted the increasing demand for hydrogen-powered refuse collection, stating, “Our technology offers a compelling value proposition, providing zero-emission power necessary to meet the demanding challenges of refuse trucks.”
Tracy Adams, CEO of GreenWaste, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, adding, “This latest investment in zero-emission technology reinforces our leadership in resource recovery and recycling.”
