UK-based start-up IONETIC has introduced a groundbreaking software-accelerated system, Arc, which promises to deliver significant savings in electric vehicle (EV) battery pack development costs while halving the time-to-market for custom battery packs. The Arc system uses AI to automate the design process, integrating pre-validated components to streamline production.

The system is designed to cut the typical £30 million investment and four-year development cycle required for bespoke EV battery packs from tier 1 suppliers. By doing so, it offers an end-to-end solution that reduces both costs and risks, helping original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) bring competitive electrified vehicles to market faster.

“As the push for electric vehicle adoption accelerates, OEMs need the right partners to bring competitive electrified vehicles to market as fast as possible,” said James Eaton, CEO and Co-Founder of IONETIC. “IONETIC’s Arc system allows us to provide OEMs with pre-validated, tailored solutions – enabling them to remove inefficient development processes, focus on vehicle innovation, and eliminate the usual bottlenecks of cost and time.”

The Arc system includes three key elements: AI-powered software to automate the design process, pre-defined hardware systems for flexible development, and an innovative fabrication model that reduces manufacturing costs. This combination allows IONETIC to provide affordable, high-performance battery packs for OEMs producing low-volume bespoke vehicles such as trucks, buses, and sports cars.
