Nio has taken a significant step towards launching its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, by completing a crucial regulatory filing.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) included the Nio ET9 in its latest catalog of models, open for public comment from October 16 to 22, 2024. Entry into this catalog is the final regulatory requirement before a model can be officially sold in China.

The ET9, manufactured at Nio’s F2 plant in NeoPark, Hefei, measures 5,325 mm in length, 2,017 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.

The sedan weighs 2,700 kilograms and supports a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour, powered by dual electric motors supplied by Nio’s XPT division. The front motor delivers 180 kW, while the rear motor offers 340 kW of peak power.

The ET9 supports Nio’s battery swap technology and will use battery packs from CATL, including a 120 kWh battery with an energy density of 292 Wh/kg. It is built on a 925 V ultra-high voltage platform and is equipped with Nio’s 46105 cylindrical battery cells, supporting 5C fast charging. Nio’s latest charging posts enable 255 kilometers of range with just a five-minute charge.

Unveiled in December 2023, the ET9 has a pre-sale price of RMB 800,000 ($112,420), with deliveries expected in early 2025. One of the standout features is the SkyRide intelligent chassis system, the world’s first integrated hydraulic fully active suspension system, allowing dynamic adjustments in stiffness, damping, and height.

The sedan will also be the first to feature Nio’s 5 nm Shenji autonomous driving chip, enhancing its advanced driver-assistance systems.
