Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto marked a significant milestone today, with its 1 millionth vehicle rolling off the assembly line. The milestone comes just 58 months after the company’s first vehicle was produced in November 2019.

Li Auto announced the achievement on social media, highlighting that the 1 millionth vehicle was built at its main production site in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. The company also operates a newer plant in Beijing, where it is headquartered. The ceremony at the Changzhou plant was attended by company executives and officials from Jiangsu province.

Founded in July 2015, Li Auto has emerged as a key player in China’s extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market. Its first model, the Li One EREV, was launched in October 2018, with deliveries starting in December 2019. Although the Li One has since been discontinued, Li Auto’s L-series EREVs—including the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9—continue to drive the company’s growth. Additionally, the company introduced its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega MPV, in March of this year.

Li Auto reported that cumulative deliveries of the Li One and Li L9 have exceeded 210,000 units each, while the Li L8 has surpassed 180,000 units, and the Li L7 over 220,000 units. The company’s newest model, the Li L6, has already achieved over 110,000 deliveries since its launch in April, setting a record for the fastest deliveries by a new automaker.

In September alone, Li Auto delivered 53,709 vehicles, bringing its total deliveries since inception to 975,176 units. Despite logistical factors, the delivery of its 1 millionth vehicle is expected in the coming days. The company achieved a record 152,831 deliveries in the third quarter of 2024, up 45.4% year-on-year, and within its guidance range of 145,000 to 155,000 vehicles.

For the first nine months of 2024, Li Auto has delivered 341,812 vehicles, marking a 39.96% year-on-year increase.
