Tesla has once again reintroduced the option for customers to transfer Full Self-Driving (FSD) to a newly purchased vehicle, coinciding with the unveiling of its autonomous Cybercab and Robovan platforms this week. The promotion allows FSD Supervised transfers for those who take delivery of a new Tesla vehicle by the end of this year, with specific conditions applying.

On Thursday, Tesla updated its support page, stating, “Customers who take delivery of a new Tesla vehicle between October 10, 2024 and December 31, 2024 may qualify for transferring Full Self-Driving (FSD) (Supervised) from their current vehicle to their new vehicle.” However, the company clarified that certain vehicles, including inventory, commercial, and leased models, as well as cars delivered before October 10 or totaled, are not eligible.

The decision to extend the FSD transfer offer follows Elon Musk’s agreement during Tesla’s Annual Shareholders Meeting in June, after a shareholder shouted for “one more quarter” of transfers. Musk responded, agreeing to the extension but acknowledging the challenges. “It is pretty complex for us to do this,” Musk said. “It sort of adds a fair bit of complexity to the sales process, but yeah. And it is tough, because we’ve got to earn revenue somehow, so… You know, transfer is tough.”

This re-launch comes alongside Tesla’s introduction of the Cybercab and Robovan, as well as Musk’s announcement that FSD Unsupervised would begin testing in California and Texas next year.
