Taiwanese developer Xing Mobility is set to debut its innovative Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) battery prototype at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The new design is aimed at enhancing space efficiency and increasing the range of electric vehicles by integrating battery cells directly into the vehicle chassis, marking a significant advancement in EV battery technology.

From October 14, Xing Mobility will present a range of immersion-cooled battery solutions in Paris. The company’s immersion cooling technology involves submerging battery cells in coolant, which provides superior heat dissipation compared to traditional methods that cool only one or two sides of a cell. This approach reduces the risk of thermal runaway, a condition where a failing battery cell can trigger a chain reaction, leading to overheating or fires in the entire battery pack.

Xing Mobility first introduced its Immersio XM25 battery in July 2022, targeting heavy-duty commercial vehicles. A year later, the company launched the Immersio CTP (Cell-to-Pack) battery, which is suitable for a variety of electric vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, sports cars, and commercial fleets. The CTP concept is adaptable, allowing it to meet the specific needs of different vehicle types. The new CTC design is expected to further increase energy density, with Xing claiming a 35% improvement, although detailed specifications have yet to be revealed.

In addition to the CTC prototype, Xing Mobility will showcase other key technologies at the event, including its Hummingbird mobile charging station, developed in partnership with Nordic Booster. Powered by the XM25 battery system, this portable charger will be part of Xing’s broader display, which also includes the Immersio XE 50 energy storage solution.

“Our innovations are addressing the urgent demand for safer, more efficient battery solutions across diverse markets, from commercial vehicles to passenger cars and energy storage systems,” said Royce YC Hong, Founder and CEO of Xing Mobility. With the recent opening of its Paradigm Factory, Xing is positioning itself as a key player in the automotive supply chain, with its Immersio battery solutions renowned for their extreme fire safety, designed to mitigate risks even in the harshest conditions. Hong added, “We envision a future where safety and sustainability go hand in hand.”
