Ashok Leyland Delivers Electric Trucks to Billion Electric Mobility

Indian manufacturer Ashok Leyland has successfully handed over the first units of its AVTR 55T Electric, BOSS 19T Electric, and BOSS 14T Electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility, a subsidiary of the BillionE Group and sister company to ChargeZone, a prominent Indian charge point operator. The exact number of units in this initial delivery has not been disclosed, but the BillionE Group has placed a substantial order for a total of 180 electric trucks from Ashok Leyland.

During the flag-off ceremony, Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, highlighted the significance of these models, stating, “BOSS Electric is India’s first and only electric truck in the ICV range, and AVTR 55T Electric Tractor is the first 4×2 Tractor to be commercially offered by an Indian CV manufacturer.” He reiterated Ashok Leyland’s commitment to innovation and the transition to green mobility, emphasizing the company’s focus on cutting-edge technologies and enhancing customer experiences.

Ashok Leyland’s electric trucks are designed for compatibility with commonly used trailers and superstructures, with battery packs strategically positioned at the frame level. The trucks feature simultaneous dual-gun charging (CC2) for faster recharging capabilities.

The AVTR 55T Electric Tractor boasts an output of 220 kW and a battery capacity of 301 kWh, providing a range of up to 180 km. This model is designed for a gross combination weight (GCW) of 55 tonnes. The BOSS 14T Electric truck delivers up to 120 kW of output, with a 201-kWh battery and a range of up to 230 km. Meanwhile, the larger BOSS 19T Electric offers an output of 150 kW, equipped with a 201-kWh battery and a range of up to 194 km.

Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Billion E-Mobility and ChargeZone, expressed gratitude to Ashok Leyland for the delivery of these advanced electric vehicles. He noted, “As we build our energy transition platform BillionE, an integrated mid-mile Electric Truck Platform as a collaboration between our group companies, we embark on a journey together towards a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable tomorrow.” He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly transportation ecosystem.
