Jio-bp has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its 500th Jio-bp pulse charging station at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), an upscale commercial area in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This new facility expands the company’s electric vehicle (EV) charging network to a total of 5,000 charging points, underscoring its rapid growth in the Indian market.

In just one year, Jio-bp has achieved an impressive 285% increase in the number of its EV charging points, rising from 1,300 to 5,000. Notably, just two weeks prior, the company opened South India’s largest public EV charging station in Bengaluru, located near Kempegowda International Airport, which features 169 charging points.

With 95% of its Jio-bp pulse network consisting of fast-charging stations, the company boasts the highest proportion of fast chargers in India. According to a recent S&P Global report, nearly 40% of the chargers in the network have a charging output exceeding 60 kW. Jio-bp claims to be the first in the industry to install top-rated 480 kW chargers, ensuring high-speed charging capabilities for users.

The company has also established itself as the most reliable EV charging network in India, with a leading uptime of 96%. Jio-bp strategically selects locations for its charging infrastructure, including corporate parks, malls, hotels, public parking areas, and wayside amenities.

Jio-bp is a brand of Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML), a joint venture between India’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and British company BP. RIL holds a 51% stake in the partnership, while BP owns the remaining 49%. BP made a significant investment in the venture, paying Reliance Industries $1 billion (approximately 895 million euros) for its minority stake in 2020. So far, BP has invested over $12 billion (approximately 11 billion euros) in the Indian energy sector.

“India is by any regard the fastest-growing energy nation in the world, and we couldn’t be luckier than to have a strong partner like Reliance to move forward with this,” stated BP CEO Murray Auchincloss during the inauguration of the 500th charging station and the milestone of 5,000 charging points.
