Israeli electric vehicle startup Ree Automotive has announced a partnership with Roush Industries to serve as the contract manufacturer for the assembly of its P7 electric delivery van in the United States.
Production is slated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024 at Roushâs facility in Detroit.
Roush Industries, recognized for its expertise in vehicle contract manufacturing, will handle the assembly of Ree’s P7 electric trucks, with an ambitious target of producing 5,000 electric vans annually.
Last week, Ree also entered into a strategic collaboration with Indian automotive supplier Motherson, which will oversee the global supply chain and logistics aimed at reducing costs, enhancing unit economics, and improving profit margins.
The P7 line of electric vehicles features Reeâs innovative ReeCorners technology, which integrates essential vehicle components into the space between the chassis and the wheels. This design allows for a consistently flat electric chassis, resulting in up to 35% more interior volume for passengers, cargo, and batteries.
Vehicles based on the P7 chassis also boast a low entry height and are designed to support both battery and fuel cell powertrains, as well as autonomous capabilities.
Josh Tech, Chief Operating Officer of Ree Automotive, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, âWe chose to work with Roush because of their proven capabilities and expertise in the commercial EV market, their capacity to scale production, and their understanding of our unique business model, which is to build our vehicles to order, not for inventory.â He added, âBy partnering with Roush, we can concentrate on our core technology and production of the ReeCorners while optimizing production costs and reducing go-to-market times, benefiting from their nearly 40-year track record in engineering and manufacturing across diverse applications, including NASCAR and lunar terrain vehicles.â
