Lucid Motors CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson has announced a significant milestone for the electric vehicle manufacturer with the first pre-production model of the three-row Gravity SUV rolling off the assembly line at the Arizona factory.
Rawlinson, who had the opportunity to drive the new vehicle, shared the moment in a video posted on his LinkedIn page. The video captures the CEO’s brief drive in the luxury all-electric SUV, accompanied by enthusiastic Lucid employees.
“I feel so honored to have just driven the very first pre-production Lucid Gravity fresh off the production line at our Arizona factory. Accompanied in the vehicle with some of our hard-working Arizona associates, with so many more gathered together to share this special moment in time, Lucid Gravity moves another step closer to customersâ hands. Not all EVs are born equal,” Rawlinson wrote in his LinkedIn post.
Lucid has been actively sharing updates on social media regarding the Gravity SUVâs progress. Recently, the company posted a video showing the first pre-production Gravity moving from the paint shop to the assembly line at the Arizona factory, accompanied by cheers from employees.
The Lucid Gravity aims to compete in the premium all-electric, three-row SUV market, alongside models like the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S. The Gravity boasts a spacious cabin, a range of 440 miles, and a starting price of $80,000. Production is expected to commence in late 2024.
