Renault Trucks has embarked on a significant electrification initiative, deploying five of its own electric trucks for logistics operations between Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse.

The E-Tech T 4Ɨ2 trucks, each capable of transporting 22 tonnes, complete two round trips daily covering 360 kilometers, totaling 88,000 kilometers annually.

Utilizing a Range Simulator software, Renault Trucks predicts energy needs based on distance and terrain, charging the trucks overnight at a depot with additional 45-50 minute DC charges during shifts.

Charging infrastructure, featuring two 360 KW terminals by Power Electronics in Saint-Priest, supports the operation, strategically avoiding plant charging to optimize efficiency.

Initially employing five trucks, Renault Trucks plans potential expansion to seven, managed by Hauliers Dupessey&Co Group and Transports Chazot for inter-regional distribution.

Renault Trucks President Bruno Blin highlighted the project’s significance, stating, “Weā€™ve worked long and hard to electrify this first logistics route, having chosen axles between Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse because this is a flow that is emblematic of Renault Trucksā€™ business, with very high operational constraints, particularly in terms of output and precision. The launch of this project is a further illustration of our expertise in decarbonising mobility. Here at Renault Trucks, this kind of project is helping us build a new transport model. Our target for 2030 is to electrify our logistics on a huge scale, with all flows between our production sites using electric vehicles.”
