Rivian has debuted its inaugural television advertisement showcasing the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, marking a significant step in its advertising strategy as spotted by viewers over the weekend.
During the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Rivian’s TV spot was first noticed by viewer AdamUCF, featuring glimpses of the recently updated R1S and R1T models. Known for its conservative advertising tactics akin to Tesla, Rivian has gradually increased its promotional efforts in recent months, aligning with the launch of enhanced versions of the R1T and R1S last month. These updates include a quad-motor variant and cost-effective design refinements.
“While Rivian has shared occasional ads in the past, this marks a notable step towards expanding their market presence,” commented an industry analyst familiar with Rivian’s strategy.
In tandem with the vehicle updates, Rivian introduced its in-house Autonomy Platform, signaling a strategic move towards autonomous driving technology development.
Earlier announcements included Volkswagen’s $5 billion investment in Rivian, fostering collaboration on software development for future EV platforms.
Rivian’s upcoming R2 platform, revealed in March, promises a scaled-down iteration of its current lineup, while the surprise unveiling of the R3 platform indicates plans for a budget-friendly compact EV in the near future.
