Fast-charging provider Atlante and French financial institution Banque des Territoires are partnering to establish a joint venture, Alpis, aimed at installing over 500 fast-charging stations across France. The network will utilize battery-powered chargers to ensure accessibility even in areas with weak grid infrastructure.

Alpis will be backed by 40 million euros in equity, with Atlante holding a narrow majority ownership of 51 percent, and Banque des Territoires holding 49 percent. This collaboration combines the expertise of a charging service provider with the financial acumen of a banking institution. Specific details about the charging network have not yet been disclosed, but the deployment of battery-buffered fast chargers is expected to offer extensive coverage and competitive tariffs, even in regions with limited energy availability.

Banque des Territoires recently collaborated with the European Union as a realization partner for a funding round of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), providing Atlante with 49.9 million euros to construct fast-charging stations in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. Atlante’s long-term plan includes building 5,000 fast-charging points by 2025 and over 35,000 by 2030 in these countries.

The AFIR mandates that charging stations be placed at least every 60 kilometers on the European Union’s core road network and every 100 kilometers on the trans-European network. Additionally, Atlante aims to install charging stations in car parks and strategic urban areas.

Jacques Galvani, CEO of Atlante France, emphasized the alignment of this collaboration with Atlante’s mission. “This partnership with Banque des Territoires fits perfectly with Atlante’s DNA and objectives: to make 100% green electric mobility accessible to all, across the whole territory,” he said. “We hope that the technological innovations that Atlante is pioneering in Europe, particularly in terms of the synergy between fast charging, energy storage, and solar energy production, will benefit all drivers of electric vehicles and facilitate the transition to decarbonized mobility.”

Pierre Aubouin, Director of Infrastructure and Mobility at the Investment Directorate of Banque des Territoires, expressed pride in supporting the initiative. “By partnering with Atlante, a qualified, innovative, and committed partner in various market segments across the territory, we are strengthening our support for decarbonized mobility and reaffirming our commitment to ecological transformation,” Aubouin stated.

Atlante has recently formed several partnerships to expand its charging infrastructure, including deals with Vinci Autoroutes, Groupe Duval, Autostrade per l’Italia, and Emil Frey. In collaboration with Vinci Autoroutes, Atlante has inaugurated 25 fast-charging stations at the Saint-Léger Ouest service area on the A10 motorway.
