Genesis with its Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 clinching top honors at the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year Awards (CCOTY). The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) bestowed the Electric Car of the Year award upon the Electrified G80, while the Electrified GV70 secured the Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year title.
This year, the CCOTY Awards underwent a revamp, condensing the categories into four: Canadian Car of the Year, Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, Canadian Electric Car of the Year, and Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year. The streamlined approach ensured that all 2024 model-year vehicles, totaling over 200 entries, were eligible for consideration, whether they were newly designed, recently refreshed, or carried over from the previous year.

AJAC comprises professional journalists, writers, photographers, and corporate members dedicated to the automobile and the Canadian automotive industry. With a panel of more than 50 jurors spanning the country, the CCOTY Awards stand out as Canada’s sole vehicle awards program in which jurors test-drive every vehicle they evaluate, experiencing firsthand the diverse driving conditions across the nation.
Genesis has been a consistent performer at the CCOTY Awards, adding to its accolades over the years. In 2021, the gas-powered G80 model emerged as a category winner. This year, the Electrified G80 stood out for its elegant design and dependable performance, while the Electrified GV70 impressed with its premium finish and robust, quiet driving experience.
