Nikola Appoints Carla Tully, Energy and Infrastructure Expert, to Board of Directors

Nikola has appointed Carla Tully, an experienced energy and infrastructure professional, to its Board of Directors. With a background spanning Fortune 150 companies, private equity, startups, and government entities, Tully brings extensive leadership and scaling experience to the role.

Currently serving as Vice Chair of Earthrise Energyā€™s Board of Directors and as a Board Director for Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions Forum, Tully is well-positioned to contribute to Nikola’s growth. She is also an advisor to several energy transition startups.

Steve Shindler, Chairman of Nikolaā€™s Board of Directors, highlighted Tully’s potential impact, stating, ā€œAs Nikola scales its energy infrastructure business, especially in the hydrogen ecosystem, the addition of Carla to Nikolaā€™s Board of Directors will greatly benefit our company, employees, and shareholders.” He emphasized Tully’s diverse business expertise, which includes launching startups, overseeing large organizations, navigating energy industry challenges, and excelling in business development, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability.

Tully, known for her commitment to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, expressed her excitement about joining Nikola’s Board of Directors. She highlighted Nikola’s mission-oriented approach to zero-emission transportation and expressed her dedication to supporting the company as it grows in 2024 and beyond.

Prior to her role at Nikola, Tully co-founded and served as CEO of Earthrise Energy, PBC, leading the company from concept to a 1.7 GW operating business with a 2.0 GW renewable energy development pipeline. She has also held leadership roles at MAP Energy and The AES Corporation, where she played a pivotal role in scaling renewable energy development and shaping growth strategies.

Tully’s accolades include the 2022 Silver Stevie Award for Best Female Entrepreneur and the 2016 UK Institute of Directorsā€™ Award for Director of the Year for Corporate Responsibility. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a Bachelorā€™s degree in international relations and economics from the University of Southern California.
