Rivian has recently announced an expansion in the battery options available for its flagship R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV models. The move comes just a month after the company debuted its second line of all-electric vehicles.

In a bid to offer customers more choices, Rivian’s configurator now includes the Standard pack as a selectable option, alongside the previously available Large and Max packs. Additionally, the company introduced a new battery pack called Standard+, which promises increased range at a lower cost.

Previously, Rivian’s configurator limited customers to three battery pack options: Standard, Large, and Max, with the Standard pack only available for specific powertrain configurations. However, as of today, customers can now opt for the Standard pack, particularly for Dual Motor AWD builds.

The introduction of the Standard+ pack offers customers an additional range option positioned between the Standard and Large packs. This move aims to cater to new customers seeking extended range without opting for the higher-priced options.

With the inclusion of the Standard and Standard+ packs, Rivian’s R1 lineup now offers a range breakdown as follows: Standard – 270 miles, Standard+ – 315 miles, Large – 352 miles (EPA estimated), and Max – 400 miles for the R1S and 410 miles for the R1T.

Furthermore, Rivian has unveiled the starting MSRPs for the configurations featuring the Standard and Standard+ packs. Prices range from $69,900 for the R1T Dual Standard to $83,000 for the R1S Performance Dual Standard+.

It’s worth noting that some configurations fall below the $80,000 threshold for trucks and SUVs, potentially making customers eligible for federal tax incentives up to $3,750 under the Inflation Reduction Act.
