Ionity Appoints Torsten Kiedel as Chief Financial Officer to Drive European Growth

Ionity, a player in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, has named Torsten Kiedel as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective January 1, 2024. In this capacity, Kiedel will collaborate with Dr. Michael Hajesch, CEO, and Dr. Marcus Groll, COO, to spearhead Ionity’s expansion efforts across Europe.

Assuming a pivotal role, Kiedel will oversee finance, accounting, controlling, purchasing, and energy management within Ionity. His transition to Ionity comes from Sono Motors, where, from 2020 to 2023, he served as CFO of the publicly listed parent company and Managing Director of the operational subsidiary at the solar startup. During his tenure at Sono Motors, Kiedel played a key role in steering the company’s capital market strategy and financing activities.

Kiedel brings a wealth of experience from various facets of the mobility industry, having previously held roles at renowned entities such as the BMW Group, Mytaxi (now Free Now), and Flixbus.

Michael Hajesch, Ionity’s CEO, expressed satisfaction with Kiedel’s appointment, stating, “We are very happy to have Torsten join us at IONITY. He has a wealth of experience in the mobility industry and has accompanied many companies during their growth phase.” Hajesch further emphasized that Kiedel’s expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in Ionity’s future success.

With Ionity positioned as a significant player in the EV charging infrastructure domain, Kiedel’s appointment underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its financial leadership to navigate the dynamic landscape of the growing electric mobility sector.
