Czech automaker Skoda has announced significant enhancements to its Enyaq SUV for the upcoming 2024 model year, introducing extended range, faster charging, and increased torque. These improvements are attributed to a new rear motor and battery chemistry integrated into the vehicle’s drivetrain. The Enyaq lineup for 2024 now features three models – the 85, 85x, and the RS, including the Coupe variants – all equipped with the upgraded drivetrain.
The Enyaq 85 model now boasts an extended range of up to 565 km on a single charge, as per the WLPT cycle, an increase from the previous 548 km. The maximum power output has also seen a significant boost, reaching 210 kW, up from the previous 150 kW. The improvements are credited to the introduction of a more powerful and efficient rear-mounted motor. Notably, the battery charging speed remains unchanged.
In the case of the 85x variant, the charging time from 10 to 80% has been reduced to 28 minutes, a 6-minute improvement facilitated by the new 175 kW maximum charging rate. The range has seen a more modest increase, going from 524 km to 538 km, accompanied by a power output rise from 195 kW to 210 kW.
For the Enyaq RS, the power has increased by 30 kW, reaching 250 kW, and the range has been extended to 541 km from the previous 517 km. The charging rate matches that of the 85x, at 175 kW, resulting in a 28-minute duration for a 10-80% charging cycle.
Beyond the hardware upgrades, Skoda has introduced a new battery preconditioning feature. The battery management system can optimize the battery temperature before reaching the charging station, offering manual or automatic control based on the current battery temperature and navigation data.
