In the midst of a burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) price rivalry in China, Volkswagen, through its joint venture (JV) with FAW-Volkswagen, has officially commenced pre-orders for the ID.7 Vizzion, a flagship electric sedan, with prices starting at 237,700 yuan ($33,200).
Introduced at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in April, the ID.7 Vizzion serves as FAW-Volkswagen’s rendition of Volkswagen’s new global flagship electric sedan. This launch is part of Volkswagen’s strategic approach, where new models are often manufactured and marketed by both of its joint ventures in China—SAIC-VW and FAW-Volkswagen. SAIC-VW, for instance, offers the ID.4 X and ID.6 X, while FAW provides the ID.4 Crozz and ID.6 Crozz.
The ID.7 Vizzion maintains the design elements of Volkswagen’s global ID.7 but incorporates slight modifications. Volkswagen, in its bid to strengthen its position in the prominent Chinese EV market, opened pre-orders for the global ID.7 in Europe in August.
The pre-orders for the ID.7 Vizzion commenced with a starting price of 237,700 yuan ($32,200). Despite local media expectations ranging between $25,000 and $30,000, the announced price exceeds those estimates, according to Car News China.
Measuring 4,956 mm (195″) in length, 1,862 mm (73″) in width, and 1,537 mm (60.5″) in height, the ID.7 Vizzion positions itself as a substantial electric sedan, drawing comparisons to Tesla’s Model X (198″ x 79″ x 66″). It is offered in both single and dual-motor configurations, with the single-motor variant, powered by an 84.8 kWh NCM battery, providing a CLTC range of up to 642 km (399 mi). The dual-motor variant boasts a range of 570 km (354 mi).

The interior of the flagship sedan is equipped with advanced technology, including a 15″ 2K floating screen and an augmented reality (AR) head-up display. Further enhancing the in-car experience is the inclusion of a Hardman Kardon premium sound system featuring 16 speakers. The ID.7 Vizzion also incorporates Volkswagen’s assisted driving 3.0, featuring interactive lane change capabilities.
