Electric vehicle startup Fisker revealed its plans to significantly increase the production of its Ocean sports utility vehicle in the fourth quarter of this year. The company aims to raise its daily production rate from approximately 180 units to an impressive 300 units.

Fisker has established a manufacturing partnership with Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International, responsible for producing Fisker vehicles destined for both European and North American markets. This collaboration has played a pivotal role in Fisker’s production capabilities.

According to Fisker’s CEO, Henrik Fisker, vehicle deliveries are set to pick up the pace in North America, with a notable acceleration expected in September.

As of September 4th, Magna International has successfully manufactured 3,123 vehicles, with nearly 3,000 already handed over to Fisker. Additionally, over 450 Fisker Oceans in the United States have either been delivered to customers or are currently in the delivery process.

It’s worth noting that Fisker recently adjusted its annual production target due to supply chain challenges. This adjustment, though significant, overshadowed the fact that the company reported a smaller-than-anticipated quarterly loss and achieved its first revenue from the delivery of electric sport utility vehicles.

Despite considerable efforts to recover from the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Fisker faced delays from a key supplier responsible for a complex component that requires specialized labor. This supplier’s slower-than-expected pace has contributed to Fisker’s production challenges.
